Bridges in ACROW metal structures: the Mintp decries the slowness in the execution of the work.

The construction project for the metal structure works was the subject of an evaluation during the project review held on Thursday April 18, 2024, this consultation allowed the Minister of Public Works to make an update with the project teams at the point of work on the ACROW metal bridges in Cameroon.

The construction work of these bridges with a total length of 668,427 ml and their access roads which are 100 ml on either side of each work of art throughout the national territory are experiencing a slowdown. Of the 09 projects in progress, only the bridges under construction respectively on the Mama river in the East on the Dem-Mama axis where the execution rate is 45% and on the Ngoum river in Kekem where we preparing to install the already assembled metal deck are experiencing significant progress in the progress of its work to date despite certain constraints. These projects are financed to the tune of 8,530,406,462 FCFA including tax by the BIP MINTP.

According to experts, this slowdown is due to the non-payment of certain accounts and the slowness in the execution of the work. To this end, the Minister of Public Works ordered the payment of these accounts for these companies to improve performance and accelerate the pace of work. Otherwise, the project owner could notice the failure and possibly move towards termination.
