CAF CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: The quarter-final posters known

The draw for the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League took place on March 12, 2024 in Cairo, Egypt. Among the competing clubs, 04 will qualify for the semi-finals.

 

The quarter-finals of the Confederation of African Football Champions League promise sparks. Eight clubs will compete in this phase of the competition. They are Young Africans from Tanzania, Mamelodi Sundowns from the South African Republic, Mimosas from the Ivory Coast, Espérance sportive from Tunis, Atletico Petroleos from Angola and the Almighty Mazembé from the Democratic Republic of Congo.

 

Quarter-final draw

 

Former African football legends Siaka Tiene of Ivory Coast and Ahmed Hassan of Egypt led  the CAF Champions League quarter-final draw ceremony in Cairo, Egypt. The first matches of the first leg will be played from March 29 to 30, 2024.

Simba FC of Tanzania will face Al Ahly SC of Egypt, the competition's winningest record holder. Almighty Mazembe of the DRC in search of continental glory since their last success in the CAF Champions League in 2015 prepares to welcome Athletico Petroleos of Angola in Lubumbashi.

It will be in the first leg, before going to Luanda for the return match. The Angolans have a better experience in 2021 and 2022, where they reached the semi-final stage against Wydad Casablanca, then winner of the event. Esperance of Tunis, four times Tunisian champions, will cross swords with Asec Mimosas of Ivory Coast. The last quarter-final will pit Young Africans, finalist of the Confederations Cup of the previous season, against Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, winner of the 2016 edition.
