CAN FUTSAL 2024: Morocco at the roof of Africa, King Mohammed VI congratulates the team

The Atlas Lions were crowned African futsal champions for the third time on April 21, 2024 in Morocco. They beat Angola by a score (5 goals to 1), at the Moulay Abdallah complex in Rabat in the presence of  Gianni Infantino, President of FIFA. Morocco, Angola and Libya will represent Africa at the 2024 Futsal World Cup in Uzbekistan next September.

 


The Moroccan national team kept all its promises at the 2024 Africa Futsal Cup of Nations, winning a new continental title in Rabat. The men of coach Hicham Dguig wrote a new page in their history against Angola in the final of the Futsal Can 2024.  Playing at home and supported by their public at the Moulay Abdallah complex colored in its most beautiful colors, the Atlas Lions won the final with a large score of (5 goals to 1), against Angola. The coach of the Moroccan national team Hicham Dguig was satisfied with the performance of his team and dedicated the victory to King Mohammed VI: “I am very happy for this victory which I dedicate to King Mohammed VI. It is thanks to his vision and the infrastructure available to the kingdom and the exceptional efforts of the Moroccan royal federation that we have achieved this result.

The sovereign reiterates his congratulations to the members of the national team and all technical and administrative executives of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation. At the same time, he implores the Almighty to grant them the opportunity of success and distinctions during the World Cup in Uzbekistan 2024 and in their sustained efforts to climb the highest steps of the podiums nationally and internationally.

 


Morocco, Angola and Libya are qualified for the Uzbekistan 2024 Futsal World Cup.

 

Apart from offering them the title of African champion, this performance also opens the doors to the 2024 World Cup scheduled in Uzbekistan from September 14 to October 6. Morocco is already qualified with Angola and Libya. The main players are eager to take part in this world cup. While Cameroon, a great sporting nation with a successful team, was unable to take part in this continental competition due to a suspension by the Confederation of African Football dating from 2019.

The former executive of the Cameroon Football Federation at that time led by Seydou Mbombo Njoya did not appeal in time to obtain a cancellation or reduction of the sanction. A situation which caused a double penalty for Cameroon. First, absent from the CAN in Morocco which led to de facto disqualification from the 2024 World Cup in Uzbekistan.
