The manager and selector of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon Marc Brys is announced this week on a European tour after which he will meet Cameroonian players playing in the European championships.
The Belgian technician is making his second official outing after visiting the various sports infrastructures in Cameroon last week with his technical staff. This tour comes at the right time, at a time when it seems important to think about the implementation of the tactical, technical plan and the reconfiguration of the Cameroon national football team. Indeed, one of the Belgian technician's missions during this tour is to meet the players and observe others likely to be called up for the next Indomitable Lions regroupings. In addition, Marc Brys should take advantage of this mission to bring back certain players excluded by Rigobert Song. He will have to move to Germany to Bayern Munich see the case of Éric Maxime Choupo Moting, one of the best attackers of the team sidelined the day after the 2022 World Cup held in Qatar from which Cameroon exited first tour beating Brazil (0-1) in the last group match.
Apart from the Bayern player, Marc Brys should also look into the case of Micheal Ngadeu, one of the pioneers of Cameroon's historic victory against Algeria at the Blida stadium in March 2022. We remember that it is Ngadeu who heads the ball which ended up in the back of the net marked by Karl Toko Ekambi in the final minutes of play, thus qualifying Cameroon for the Qatar 2022 World Cup. Except that Ngadeu central defender of the Lions will not take part in this competition. Even if football observers had noticed that the member of Gantoise, a first division club in Belgium today in China, was starting to show signs of fatigue. Still, his experience would have helped maintain a certain cohesion in the group. Micheal Ngadeu today in the firmament in China, this is a big challenge that Marc Brys will have to take into account.
Marc Brys: what game strategy will the Belgian adopt?
Before signing his contract with the State of Cameroon, Marc Brys certainly had a tactical plan and a projection concerning his typical team. The tactical scheme he uses the most in the 15 clubs he has managed since 2001 in clubs in Belgium, the Netherlands and Saudi Arabia is the 3-4-2-1 scheme which is similar to the 3-4 system. -3. This pattern is played with three defenders, four midfielders and three attackers. Even if his name does not appear in the list of the best coaches in Europe with this system, he could implement it with the Indomitable Lions.
Marc Brys' probable starting eleven.
With this tactical scheme, we could have as goalkeeper André Onana, Jean Charles Castelleto and Micheal Ngadeu at the center and Nouhou Tolo.
In the 4-man midfield he will be able to join Carlos Baleba with André Franck Zambo Anguissa, Pierre Koundè Malong and Olivier Ntjam. Further forward Kevin Nkoudou and Bryan Mbeumo will support Vincent Aboubacar, Franck Magri or Éric Maxime Choupo Moting in attack. Could this plan qualify Cameroon for the 2025 CAN planned in Morocco and for the 2026 World Cup? Still, whether the strategy works or not, the Cameroonian people who spend hundreds of millions for this national team will judge the mason at the wall.
