At around 4:30 a.m. on May 19th, the residence of the Deputy Prime Minister of the Economy, Vital Kamerhe, was attacked by armed individuals (in "uniform" of the national army) and gunfire was exchanged; armored vehicles were deployed from the Pullman Hotel to the presidential palace. Some assailants entrenched themselves near the Palace of the Nation while others fled towards the river, according to security sources who reported the assault at dawn on Vital Kamerhe's residence by several dozen armed men. Among the weapons used were "drones," according to a neighbor of Kamerhe and sources. The avenue and its surroundings are cordoned off. Several assailants who participated in the assault on the Palace of the Nation this morning are arrested by the Republican Guard."
