the company starts work on the first section
The start of reconstruction work on the Mora-Dabanga-Kousseri road began with work on the first Mora-Tchakamari section. On the site, the SOTCOCOG company is installed. The project is being executed in several sections and the process of awarding the other sections is underway.
On March 26, the Secretary General of the Far North region chaired a meeting bringing together several project stakeholders, to ensure support for the administrative and security managers of the project. This meeting comes as the first contracts were signed for the construction of the Mora-Tchakamari section a little over two months ago.
A visit to the site in the presence of the Prefect of Mayo Sava and which showed that the SOTCOCOG quarry is functional, as is the asphalt plant. Overall, all measures have been taken for the effective start of work on April 1, 2024, in accordance with the work schedule developed by the company. The road structure to be constructed is composed of a foundation layer on a cement-improved soil, a base layer of gravel bitumen and a wearing course of bituminous concrete.
The reconstruction of the Mora-Babanga-Kousseri road is divided into five lots and the related works must take place simultaneously, as contracts are awarded.
For lots 2,3,4,5 going from Tchakamari to Kousseri, including the Tildé bridge (180 ml) in mixed concrete-steel structure, the road structure provides a foundation layer based on recycling of materials in situ and addition of untreated crushed gravel, a base layer of gravel bitumen and a wearing course of bituminous concrete. This project, co-financed by the State of Cameroon and the World Bank, will also make it possible to develop 200 km of municipal roads along the route.
