the company has 10 days to comply with the requirements of a formal notice

The evaluation of the formal notice served several days ago to the ARMADA CAM SARL group, and ARMADA, in charge of the construction of the Palar bridge and its access to the Mayo Kalliao, proved inconclusive. A decision which justifies the holding, on Wednesday March 13, 2024, of an evaluation meeting chaired by the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi.

From the meeting chaired on March 13, 2024 by the MINTP, it emerged that the ARMADA CAM SARL and ARMADA group has 10 days to convince of its ability to bring this important project to completion. This period will be decisive in determining whether or not there is a failure likely to lead to the termination of this contract.

Specifically, it is expected from the group during this period, the transmission of the corrected execution file of the metal framework of the work, that of the updated monthly, weekly and daily schedules, the finalization of the technical exchanges relating to the solution for setting up subcontracting companies for bolting or welding and the renewal of all risks construction site and civil liability insurance policies. Three months after the on-site assessment which was carried out by the Minister of Public Works, ARMADA CAM SARL and ARMADA are struggling to convince. The measures prescribed today will be evaluated during a mission which will take place on March 23, 2024.

The project follows the collapse of a 60 linear meter structure in the town of Maroua, Diamaré department in the Far North region. For its reconstruction, a project in design/construction mode of a 70 ml single-span bridge, mixed steel-concrete twin-girder type resting on deep foundations (piles) and its access points was initiated. To date, the progress rate of the works is 7.08% or 4.47% for the works and 80.25% for the studies phase.

Additional geotechnical studies have already been carried out, as well as the demolition of the old bridge and the development of platforms for the foundations. Currently, the group is mobilized for the pile workshop and to do so, it has committed to building the 24 piles for the foundation work in 50 days, or one pile every two days.

The project aims to re-establish the link between Maroua and Kousseri, ensure the transit of traffic on National Highway No. 1 and that of the borders of Nigeria and Chad with Cameroon and to ensure the movement of goods and people. Its implementation is supported by a contract of 4,195,811,429 F CFA for the works and 309,896,645 F CFA for project management carried out by the Le CompetingSARL, Cameroun engineering/ William's Fru group.
