  • MMA: The highlights of a controversial fight between Cédric Ndoumbè and Baki.

Cédric Ndoumbè is defeated by referee's decision against Baki Chamsoudinov in the third round at the Accor Arena in Bercy on March 7, 2024. The boxer of Cameroonian origin had discomfort in his toe and referee Marc Goddard stopped the fight, making Baki the winner. The fight between Cédric Ndoumbè and Baki was eagerly awaited by boxing fans around the world. The two men faced each other in MMA in Bercy as part of PFL Europe. PFL is English boxing, a branch of MMA which only allows points. Unlike the UFC which is a general fight involving all parts of the human body. Indeed, the fight between Baki and Ndoumbè turned to the advantage of the young Baki by decision of the jury. The referee decided to end this fight in the third round after Cédric Ndoumbè stuck a splinter in his toe. This controversial decision was poorly received in the packed Bercy Arena, and won over to the Cameroonian's cause. The public is calling for a rematch between the two boxers. No one would have imagined such a scenario during a high-level fight. An incident occurred and put an end to this duel that had been expected for about a year. However, the fight seemed balanced in the first round before observing Cédric's blow-by-blow domination in the second round. Knowing the performance of Cédric Ndoumbè, winner of his last fight in France with a KO in 09 seconds against Jordan Zebo, we should have let the fight come to an end. But the referee made a courageous decision to stop the fight against Ndoumbè's wishes. He made Baki the winner of the game. Except that this decision is not unanimous. Baki has accepted a revenge from Cédric Ndoumbè which will be scheduled shortly and which promises to be sparkling. Highlights of the first and second rounds. During the two and a half rounds, the two opponents showed off to the public at the Bercy Arena. Everyone spoke in their preferred field. Very experienced in the UFC, Baki dictated his behavior to Cédric Ndoumbè by sending him to the mat several times. The Franco-Cameroonian did not humiliate himself. He progressed in the fight, leaving Baki no respite. But it must be recognized that at the end of the first round the outlook for victory leaned in favor of Baki. In the second round Cédric Ndoumbè reversed the dice keeping a good position to place his shots. The incident that gives Baki the victory. The two men are in a duel. Then Cédric Ndoumbè makes a save and shows his injury to his opponent and the referee. This momentary stop reveals the presence of a glass splinter. The Cameroonian asks for a few minutes to remove it and continue the fight. The referee in turn decides to interrupt the game following a misunderstanding. He thus declared Chamsoudinov Baki the winner by KO. A disgruntled Cédric Ndoumbè offered a revenge to his opponent who accepted. It remains to set the date and place for this revenge which promises to be epic. J. Patrick DJON

  • Ministerial Conference on Malaria: Cameroon’s shared vaccination experience

Visit to the vaccination site at the Soa District Hospital. The Secretary General of the Ministry of Public Health, Professor Louis Richard NJOCK led on the morning of March 6, 2024, on behalf of the Minister of Public Health, a strong delegation of participants in the ministerial conference on Malaria, to visit Soa District Hospital. With the aim of touching on the reality of the Malaria vaccination experience in Cameroon, the Deputy Director of WHO, the Minister of Health of Burkina Faso, the Global Coordinator of PMI, the Executive Director of USAID among others, returned to the SOA District Hospital. The objective of this visit was not only to reassure populations about the quality of the Malaria vaccine, but also to encourage their support for vaccination. Also, officials played the game by administering the first dose for some, and the second for others, to around fifty children aged 6 to 59 months. This was followed by a visit to the pediatric malaria care units, in particular the pediatric service and the prenatal consultation service. The journey of these services made it possible to identify the strengths and weaknesses of said care. Since the launch of the malaria vaccine last January, at the Soa District Hospital, there has been great enthusiasm among the populations, with 52% of children already covered by vaccination. The wish expressed by the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), Dr NJOH Andreas ATEKE, is to make the vaccine more available, in order to respond to the strong demand recorded among vaccination services within communities. A mobilization welcomed by Dr. Robert KAGOUROU, Burkinabé Minister of Health, for whom the introduction of the Malaria vaccine in Cameroon is a success thanks to the efforts of the Government, particularly under the leadership of his Cameroonian counterpart, Dr. MANAOUDA Malachie . An experience to be duplicated in other African countries. Source Celcom/Minsanté.

  • Malaria Ministerial Conference

Mobilization of resources in favor of malaria at the heart of discussions The Minister of Public Health, Dr MANAOUDA Malachie actively took part in the round table focused on the opportunities and challenges in securing and effective deployment of funding for malaria during the ministerial conference on malaria in Yaoundé. Under the leadership of President Paul BIYA, Cameroon is strongly committed to the fight against malaria... It is therefore a national priority from the point of view of public policies put in place and funding mobilized by the Government and its partners in this regard. effect” declared the Minister of Public Health, when he spoke, during the above-mentioned round table. For him, this is not enough to face the challenges to overcome in order to achieve the expected results. These include the non-prioritization of health in national strategies, the absence of rationalization of the interventions of the different actors who often find themselves carrying out the same actions on the ground, and finally the conflicts in the world which lead decision-makers to relegate health to second place. To obtain adequate funding for the fight against malaria, Dr MANAOUDA Malachie suggested better planning of interventions and the determination of fields of action, the popularization of the results obtained and their impacts on the country's economy. The counterparts of the Health Authority of Sudan, Burkina Faso, the DRC and Mali, during the same exercise, after presenting the actions undertaken in their respective countries, focused on advocacy with decision-makers in order to to prioritize the fight against malaria, the development of research to better direct resources, and interventions according to field epidemiology. They also insisted on the need to invest more in health promotion and prevention rather than in the fight against disease. It is at the cost of all these combined actions that Africa can hope to put malaria out of harm's way for its populations. The day ended with a press conference following the signing of the Yaoundé agreement by the countries present. Clément Noumsi

Reactions Guy Esse Esse, recipient deputy director of heritage at the CAA « I am an employee of the autonomous sinking fund and I had the privilege of being sent back to school to improve my knowledge through my company even though I was already a human resources director. I express a feeling of gratitude to my superiors because it was very difficult between managing the family, his job, personal affairs and following his training. In all honesty, here discipline is required as for full-time students, lateness was observed and punished, after all this pressure there is something to be said for this day with the presentation of the parchment. I would first like to thank my former CEO and deputy, the current CEO, my training comrades, my wife, the warmth of my children and the whole family. This training was necessary for me because I am moving from personnel administration to human resources management with all that this entails in terms of career management ». Mme Véronique Sylvie Ngo Minlend épse Moukouelle, recipient « I am very happy for this graduation ceremony because I finished here at Cradat in 2019 with obtaining my professional license and the Master II in human resources. Today I am delighted to receive my diplomas which will open the doors to the professional world for me, either in a company or on my own». Bazié Bassolma, PCA Cradat "The Cradat was created in January 1965 by our predecessors who have a communist vision of Africa with the joining of administrative skills to serve the State, to better manage the central pillar which is human resources, the first capital of the State which is the human resource. Today, we awarded diplomas to students who passed through this institution which today numbers in the thousands, we congratulate firstly the leaders of Cameroon for putting in place a set of necessary conditions so that Cradat can maintain Le Cap and achieve convincing and tangible results. I take advantage of your platform which is offered to me to launch a solemn appeal to all of my colleagues who officiate in labor administration in the respective countries to put all the conditions in place to allow this administration to stand. To the winners, I wish them good luck, their predecessors had no difficulty entering the professional world and I wish them the same radiant career because there is room for them under the sun. The essential challenge that remains for us is to ensure that the Cradat does not give in and that it continues the work for which it was put in place because any poor management of human resources gives rise to crises. and a developmental blockage. Everyone who passes here must think of African unity because tomorrow they will be called to positions of very high responsibility and it is their way of doing things that will allow Africa to stand up" Clément Noumsi

Teams from the Ministry of Public Works began work under management on the Bekoko-Pont du Nkam section several days ago, in order to continue the services undertaken with regard to the treatment of degraded areas. Today, the teams treated the large strips with pozzolan and 0/31.5 as well as filling the potholes in the Kake par Souza village. • Ntem Valley: active road maintenance projects

Executed under the project management of the municipalities and the MINTP Several road maintenance contracts are currently active in the Vallée du Ntem department, in the South region. The latter, some of which have been completed and others in progress, ensure the good performance of the axes concerned. There are currently four road maintenance projects implemented by four municipalities. The envelope of 26,975,185 CFA francs which had been allocated to the commune of Ambam in 2023 made it possible to carry out the rehabilitation work on the section of the Abang-Bethel-Nko'ombe municipal road which extends over a length of 7 km. • Act 2 of SIILY: highlighting professionals in the book industry

This is the pretext for the press conference on Tuesday March 5, 2024 at the Gœthe Institute to announce the holding of this second edition of the SIILY This is one of the main motivations that drives the president of the Association of Promoters of the Book Industry (APIL), also director of the International Book Industry Fair of Yaoundé (SIILY), whose act 2 will be held from March 14 to 17, 2024 at the National Museum of Yaoundé. “The book, a lasting legacy. ", this is the theme chosen for this second edition of SIILY 2024. For the organizers, this theme translates a vision which is that of placing the book as a vital capital for our society under construction, "In a context where it is necessary to reaffirm our young people that the book remains the only tool capable of pulling man upwards. It is a tool for emancipation, appropriation, and self-learning. », Explains the promoter of SIILY Matchadje Yogolipaka. A second edition at the heart of printers, national languages and social inclusion. This is the main innovation of this year 2024 which intends to showcase printers and people with reduced mobility, “This year’s SIILY aims to be more inclusive. On the show site, you will have a blind person who has written many books and who is a teacher at the Ecole Normale de Yaoundé. This means that we want to give space to each actor in the book. Also, players who were not very represented last year, such as printers, have finally joined SIILY and that is a very good thing for the book industry. It must be said that printers are an important link in the book chain. We will also place emphasis on national languages. It is important that each Cameroonian appropriates his or her language, and why not that politicians reflect on a dynamic to give national languages more space. », indicated the director of SIILY. Fabienne Freeland, director of SIL Cameroon, will hold a workshop on March 14 during which a software called “Bloom” will be presented which allows books to be written using the alphabets necessary for Cameroonian languages, which adapt them to other languages while keeping the normal format. Absent from SIILY last year, the president of the printers' group will have a major part in this 2024 edition, which discusses the reasons for their presence at this Show, "During the first edition the printers were not represented and when When we talk about the book industry, printers occupy an important place. What motivates us is that we are an integral part of this chain, and during SIILY 2024, we want to present our know-how because by next year we will print the books locally in Cameroon,” says Robert Nkouamou. . SIILY 2024 is no less than 14 countries expected with Italy as the country in the spotlight. Placed under the sponsorship of the Ministry of Arts and Culture, three objectives are targeted by its promoter, notably the promotion of books; capacity building and social cohesion. Clément Noumsi

  • 8th COPIL of the integrative road program, transport and transit facilitation project

8th COPIL of the integrative road program, the transport and transit facilitation project in the CEMAC zone and the multimodal transport project in Cameroon. Review and Prospects Chaired by its president, the Minister of Public Works Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, in the presence of the vice-president the Minister of Transport Jean Ernest Masséna NgalléBibéhè, partners from the African Development Bank, the World Bank, the Islamic Bank, the head of the jointly financed road projects unit Maurice Djontu presented yesterday Wednesday March 6, 2024 at the Mont-Fébé hotel in Yaoundé, the 2023 activities report. This presentation was made during the work of the National Steering Committee for Integrative Road Programs, the Transport and Transit Facilitation Project in the CEMAC zone and the multimodal transport project in Cameroon. It appears that economic activities have been carried out, with the aim of increasing household income and improving the living conditions of the populations of the localities located along the developed or rehabilitated roads. If the construction of roads helps support trade and communication between people and countries, increases the standard of living, facilitates economic activity, and has been an engine for peace and prosperity, it is all It is quite normal for a certain number of infrastructure projects to be completed on the Ntui-Ndjolé-Mankim-Yoko-Tibati-Ngatt road and returned to the competent authorities of the said localities in order to facilitate the populations' access to basic social services. Among these works, we can note economic infrastructure: Six (06) multi-purpose hybrid energy processing and marketing units, three (03) sensitive market sheds, three storage warehouses, 03 boreholes, and three latrines, five ( 05) drying areas. Social Infrastructure: Two (02) community radio stations, a women's and family promotion center built, four (04) equipped health centers including two built and two rehabilitated and sixteen (16) classrooms equipped with latrines, the Yoko SAR/SM building, a multifunctional youth center, two 370 ml fences for a school. Several other related infrastructures including 151 km of municipal roads will be delivered in 2024 in localities located along the Ntui-Ndjole-Mankim-Meteing, Mintom-Lélé-Ntam-Mbalam and Babadjou-Bamenda roads. Reactions El hadj Oumarou, DG BGF « Something absolutely has to be done. We have noted, to regret it, that these different companies, in reality, are not there to move things forward; but rather, drag us down and unfortunately we are unable to perform as well as desired by development partners. It is for this reason that, referring to the experiences that we have elsewhere on this aspect, we have insisted that the different companies can be efficient and able to meet the criteria defined in each specification, which must actually be executed in the field. Unfortunately, some excel by their inconsistency and by their way of doing things which, in reality, does not correspond at all to the vision of the Head of State His Excellency Mr. Paul Biya. We would like to salute the diplomacy of the Head of State, who works with mastery, who nevertheless managed to maintain these partnerships in their entirety in our country, Cameroon, and through their direct involvement in the very achievements of the projects in the country. The African Development Bank, the World Bank and others all participate in the execution of these different projects. It is therefore not at all acceptable that these are the companies that are hampering Cameroon's approach. This is why we have proposed criminal sanctions so that those companies that think they can come and make fun of our country can be deterred and so that we can continue our market towards the emergence desired by His Excellency Mr. Paul Biya. And, all the actors that we are as a whole will never stop saying thank you for his vision.” Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, Minister of Public Works who is also President of the said Copil, « I am satisfied in the sense that many of the projects included in the 2023 work program have been executed. But, I must also note that we must improve the disbursement rate. It runs at less than 70%. What's fault? Why are we disbursing less? First, the fault of the procurement processes, the choice of co-contractors which takes time and some of these co-contractors who are truly in the ingenuity of the forgery with documentation which is not always very clear and on the site of the work, there is a big difference between the capacity of the person selected and the documentation that was produced. As a result and given the pace of the work, the pace of execution is very low. Which results in non-disbursement. So, we will work in the administrative governance of these projects. It should be noted that for the year 2024, there are approximately 279 km of roads that we will receive. It’s something said, but it has to be something done». Comments collected by Clément Noumsi

  • African Games in Accra, Ghana “Edimo Sportswear” unveils the sports outfits of the Cameroon team

It was during an unveiling ceremony which took place in the store of the now official equipment supplier of Cameroonian athletes, located at Carrefour PlayceWarda in Yaoundé. On February 8, 2024, a partnership agreement was signed between “Edimo Sportswear” and the Cameroon National Olympic and Sports Committee (CNOSC). During the signing of this unprecedented agreement which made "Edimo Design" through its certified label "Edimo Sportswear", the official supplier of sports outfits to the athletes selected in the Cameroon team to represent the country at this great sporting event. which will be held on Ghanaian soil from March 8 to 23, the Cameroonian company which had marked its entry into the large family of equipment manufacturers with this contract had promised not to disappoint the national Olympic movement. Because his representative said at the time: “This is a capital mission for us and a great responsibility. We cannot abuse this mark of confidence from the CNOSC.” Something promised, something due. “Edimo Sportswear” has just fulfilled its contract. At least when it comes to the African games. The equipment of the valiant Indomitable Lions, all disciplines combined, who will compete in skill with their peers on the stadiums, tatami mats, tartan, etc., is indeed available. They were presented to the general public on March 6, 2024. It was during an unveiling ceremony which saw the very notable presence not only of Ministers Grégoire Owona of Labor and Social Security and Talba Malla Ibrahim of Public Procurement . But above all those mainly concerned who have found these outfits which they will now have to proudly display: “beautiful, appropriate and of quality”. Anything that is likely to reassure the victories of Cameroonian athletes during their various games on Ashanti soil, because there is a correlation between the quality of the equipment and the level of performance of the athletes. This is why each country, Cameroon not being left out, manages to provide its athletes with the best on the market in terms of sports equipment. And it is not high-level athletes who would deny this truth of Lapalisse. By keeping its commitments, “Edimo Design” has thus demonstrated in the eyes of the world that the body led by Ahmad Kalkaba Malboum was not mistaken in trusting a 100% local company in an environment where competition with International multinationals are fierce. “The contract we signed with the CNOSC would require us to support our different teams in all disciplines. Today we honored him for the African Games and also intend to do so for the Olympic Games,” said Danielle Edimo Monefong, Managing Director of “Edimo Sportwear”. Already known for having dressed the Indomitable Lions of football in quality African finery, “Edimo Design”, with “Edimo Sportswear” is entering the maturation phase of its new label. Which for its part specializes in the production, distribution and development of sporting articles, in particular: polo shirts, jogging pants, t-shirts, shorts, caps, bags, sneakers, socks, Julien Efila

  • Fight against Malaria in Africa

The WHO Regional Director for Africa was received in audience by Dr MANAOUDA Malachie. The Regional Director of the World Health Organization for Africa discussed the afternoon of March 5, 2024 with Dr. MANAOUDA Malachie on the decision taken by the Head of State, His Excellency Mr. Paul BIYA, to accept to be the first country to launch vaccination against Malaria. Ms. MATSIDISO MOETI, the Regional Director of the World Health Organization for Africa, arrived in Cameroon as part of the high-level meeting concerning the countries most impacted by malaria that Cameroon is currently hosting. It was first a question for her and the delegation accompanying her to discuss the official launch of vaccination against Malaria for children. A project intended to strengthen the national health system. Ms. MATSIDISO MOETI instructed Minsanté to convey her organization's congratulations to the Head of State for having taken decisions to improve the health of the population, particularly through the mechanism of access to quality health care. A challenge that is on the verge of being successful, especially since the experience has not always been easy for several African countries. During the forty-minute exchange, the WHO Regional Director for Africa returned to the launch of Universal Health Coverage, the capacity to deal with Public Health issues. She will declare on this second point that Cameroon is a model in terms of incident management. The experience that the country now enjoys must be shared with other African countries. Above these elements, it is important, she added, in the course of the exchanges, to congratulate the Cameroonian Government for all the efforts made in the framework of improving its health system, to the effect of offer quality care at a lower cost to populations. The WHO Regional Director for Africa thanked Cameroon through Minsanté not only for the partnership with the WHO, but also because it is one of the first countries to experiment the vaccine against malaria and having found good awareness-raising strategies to convince populations to adhere to this additional solution for protection against the disease. As part of the mission on the transformation of the Cameroonian Health System, Dr Manaouda Malachie expressed his gratitude to the WHO for its availability to support Cameroon in improving the Health System. For him, his support is one of the motivations of the government which, despite the difficulties encountered, he said, remains determined to achieve the objectives set by the President of the Republic. This being said,  the head of Health immediately unveiled some strategies for incident management. And as for Universal Health Coverage, he indicates, it currently concerns children aged 0 to 5, pregnant women, and patients suffering from kidney failure. To conclude his remarks, Minsanté, as part of awareness-raising, is in discussion with MINEDUB for the establishment of vaccination records for each child. Finally, Ms. MATSIDISO MOETI did not fail to welcome Cameroon's commitment through the leadership of the head of Public Health in the implementation of the program and the resources put in place with the aim of alleviating and improving access to care for poor families. An approach which contributes to the improvement of its Health System and equity. Source Celcom/Minsanté.

  • Integrative road programs and transport facilitation projects

Effects induced by the execution of projects and programs The completion of construction work on several roads and their commissioning have to date noted a positive impact on several sectors of socio-economic life. Two transport agencies provide connections on the Yaoundé-Ntam line (Congo border) twice a week and transport an average of 700 passengers from Douala and Yaoundé to Brazzaville each month since the start of 2023. We note in addition that around 150 large carriers cross the road each week with their cargoes and the customs revenues of the Ntam customs office reached a rate of 135% in 2023. Furthermore, there is an increase of 8% in the quantities of products exported from Cameroon to Congo since 2020 and a considerable reduction in transport costs (from 35,000 FCFA to 12,000 FCFA on average) and delays (3 days at 6 a.m.) between Yaoundé and Ntam (Cameroon-border). Congo). On the Nationale 15, we note an increase in the proportion of the rural population living less than 2 km from an all-season road (the rural access index) from 21.2% in 2017 to 49.8 % in 2022 along the Ntui-Ndjole-Meiteing-Yoko road and other improvements, including reduction in transport cost (from 13,000 FCFA to 3,000 FCFA) as well as the duration of the journey (2 days to 1 hour 30 min) between Tibati and Yoko (200 km), the expansion of commercial activities along the Ntui-Mankim-Meiting-Yoko-Lena-Tibati-Ngatt and Mintom-Lélé-Ntam-Mbalam road, the reduction of transport costs operation of vehicles, the creation of direct and indirect jobs and the increase in household income in localities located along the rehabilitated or built roads and the development of the technical, material and financial capacities of three (03) Companies and ten (10) National SMEs in charge of road works and socio-economic infrastructure. The financial volume of the markets of these national companies is 115,419,894,372 CFA francs excluding tax. Clément Noumsi

  • UAR-UNESCO Summit in Yaoundé

The work of the African Broadcasting Union - UNESCO summit ends this Wednesday March 6, 2024 in the Cameroonian capital. For this third and final day of work, how can we join the revolution without being trapped? The restitution of the work in workshops and three Masters Classes are planned to discuss the opportunities and risks of artificial intelligence. Already on Tuesday March 5, the second day gave rise to various panels of exchanges and discussions to encourage the African media to adapt to this revolution while avoiding pitfalls as much as possible. This morning of Tuesday March 5 was reserved for an excursion to the city of seven hills in order to introduce participants to the rich cultural, artistic and digital potential of the host country. Several presentations allowed participants to explore the issue of artificial intelligence in all its facets. For the CEO of RTI Fausseni Dembélé “we must integrate our realities by developing endogenous technologies, we risk missing out in this new world revolution”. Several debates took place, artificial intelligence on trades and professions, in the production of programs, new tools and solutions of artificial intelligence in the media as well as artificial intelligence and ethics in the media. At the opening of the proceedings on Monday, the Minister of Communication René Emmanuel Sadi outlined the continent's strengths in this area and his determination not to be left behind. According to his words in his opening speech “...for us Africans, the challenge of artificial intelligence and the media is much more pressing, so we cannot remain indifferent to this innovation. The media have a fundamental role to play in this context, they must transform themselves and take advantage of this opportunity offered by artificial intelligence but also raise awareness among our populations of the imminent changes that artificial intelligence brings within the framework. of this international summit in Yaoundé. They demonstrate that they understood their roles as social critics but also in defending and promoting African identity. Cameroon, for its part, supports under the leadership of the President of the Republic HE Paul BIYA has already initiated a reflection in the field of artificial intelligence with its development partners. This reflection, which primarily involves Cameroonian youth, invites them to be creative, which is why the work of this summit will be followed with particular attention and will undoubtedly be inspired by the results you achieve in order to enrich their reflection on the challenges of artificial intelligence… » On the sidelines of this work, there was the official launch of the Alliance-Medias-UAR foundation for the fight against cancer which constitutes a silent killer, a true global scourge. • Return to the National Assembly in 2024

The first ordinary session of the legislative year for the year 2024 opened on Tuesday March 5 It was this Tuesday, March 5, 2024, that the opening of the first ordinary session of the 2024 legislative year was held at the Palais des Congrès in Yaoundé. This session is mainly devoted to the election of the office of the Assembly National. The first notable activity of this day was the screening of a documentary on the progress of the work on the new headquarters building of the institution. The opening ceremony was chaired by the oldest member of the Auguste Chamber, the Honorable Koa Mfegue Laurentine Epse Mbede, accompanied by the two youngest deputies . In her speech which marks the opening of the session, the oldest member requested the observation of a minute of silence in honor of their late colleague who died on January 15, 2024, the Honorable Ali Mamouda. The Honorable KoaMfegue  Laurentine subsequently congratulated his colleague, the Honorable Yaya Doumba who now sits on the OACPS-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly. She also took the opportunity to welcome the participation of the Network of Parliamentarians for the Diaspora, Decentralized and Cross-border Cooperation during the PROMOTE 2024 Exhibition. Reactions Honorable François Xavier Mpon, RDPC « For this March session, we will have the vote of the office of the national assembly for this year, we will also be able to vote on laws during this session, we will also have oral questions to the government on the ministerial departments. Who loves well, punishes well, which is why I agree with the average age which notes the fact that on the ground we do not feel the action of certain elected officials and also the questioning of the said parliamentarian goes lead, structure yourself better, organize yourself better so that your mission can be better understood on the ground and we should endeavor to do so». Honorable Mbouangouere Rainatou épse Mongwat, UDC « This session is that of renewal and on the sidelines of that we will examine laws if there is a deposit. We are entering an election year and even Elecam has admitted that this code needs to be redone so the opposition has already made proposals in this direction. We hope that the elected officials here at the assembly will accompany us so that future elections will be without quarrels ». Clément  Noumsi

  • 14th cardiology congress: Yaoundé hosts the meetings

High blood pressure and diabetes in the era of interventional cardiology in Africa It is under this theme that the Cameroonian Society of Cardiology is organizing the 14th scientific congress from March 5 to 7, 2024 at the Hilton Hotel in Yaoundé. An edition placed under the high patronage of the Ministry of Public Health which was represented at the opening ceremony by the Secretary General of Minsanté, Professor Louis Richard Njock. This work in Yaoundé, which ends on Thursday March 7, will have had the merit of having put the problem of interventional cardiology on the table and of proposing possible solutions. In addition, this meeting will have made it possible to unfold the annual roadmap of the Cameroonian Society of Cardiology in order to allow as many members as possible to spare their calendars in order to take part in a sharing of experiences and good practices leading to efficient patient loading. Several actors involved in the value chain came together to tune their violin for a more efficient and lively Cameroonian cardiology society in the digital age which influences all sectors of life today. According to Dr. Hermann Tsague cardiologist at Yaoundé General Hospital, “cardiovascular diseases in Cameroon constitute the second cause of mortality after infectious, maternal and fetal diseases. In relation to the risks, we have hypertension, it is a major factor, 1 in three Cameroonians between the ages of 18 and 75 are hypertensive. If this is treated well there will be a reduced risk of having a stroke, heart attack or kidney failure. Concerning diabetes 6% of Cameroonians are diabetic, obesity is also an aggravating factor so if hypertensive, diabetic or obese patients are well taken care of, we reduce by 95% the number of patients who can have a stroke, a kidney failure or heart attack. We rely on the media to relay at all times to help raise awareness. You should know that 10 children out of a thousand births often suffer from cardiac malformation. Reactions Jean Claude Mbama, Pr émérite of sciences « You saw the awareness that we have just raised, I have just given an inaugural lesson where I did not talk much about science but about a plea for our society, for mothers, parents because to avoid hypertension and diabetes, we must start in our homes, see what we eat, what the children eat and play sports. How many high schools in Yaoundé have sports halls? Whereas in our time, when I was young, sports constituted 30 to 40% of my work at school. We have changed our morals, we have changed our diet and we don't do enough sport and what happens is the accumulation of weight, obesity sometimes from our childhood and what happens , we have hypertension and diabetes welcome to cardiovascular complications so my plea is that we be vigilant about our consumption habits in our homes, see what we eat, what our children eat outside the home because the soda is not the necessary drink but rather pure water is better ». Pr Alain Menanga, cardiologist president of the organizing committee «Fatally or inevitably, the message relates to the theme and this time interventional cardiology. Today you have heard more and more, in the main cities of Cameroon, it is possible to have this topology which allows certain acute problems. This is an element in addition to patients who will have complications from their infections, so you see that we are talking about complications. If there is a business message to get across it is to avoid getting to that point because it means that the situation has evolved so the message is to avoid getting to that situation as much as possible. This involves controlling blood sugar levels by balancing them. The ideal is to delay the onset of one of the two conditions for as long as possible in predisposed subjects. When in your family, your direct ancestors or further back there is a history of high blood pressure or diabetes, this means that we may be willing and say to ourselves what should be done and delay as long as possible its occurrence. There is one piece of advice: to leave the sedentary mode on a massive scale, i.e. to practice fitness walking over certain distances, at the time people sometimes walked 5km to go to school, that's it. are habits to keep later they become senior executives ». • Minproff exhibition

Highlight feminine dynamism The Minister for the Promotion of Women and the Family proceeded yesterday Tuesday to the official opening of the exhibition fair with the cutting of the symbolic ribbon at the national museum as part of the activities relating to the celebration of the 39th edition of the International Women's Day on March 8. Open since last Monday, this space for sharing and exchanging experiences has allowed several actors in Cameroonian society to move around on this site to combine business with pleasure. This is the case of the CDHC which has once again highlighted its toll-free number 1523 for anonymous denunciations of cases of abuse or rights violations. On the other side, it is Elecam (Elections Cameroon) which opened a stand to enlist a few citizens to allow them to have an electoral card because voting is a civic act. And what about the CPFF (center for the promotion of women and the family) which supervises young people in learning a profession who compete with each other to attract all visitors. A popular adage says that a healthy man is a sick man who does not know which is why several screening sites are available on the site ranging from blood sugar to HIV testing. How can we forget the dance groups which give a carnivalesque tone to this fair which ends this Thursday, March 7. Just one congratulations women! Reactions Antoine Claude Daka Tcheuffa, communications manager Ceneema « The national center for the study and experimentation of agricultural machinery is the secular arm of the State in agropastoral mechanization in Cameroon. We are supporting public authorities in the implementation and development of mechanized agriculture, maintenance and development of agropastoral areas. And as for specifically our presence here at the national museum at the Minproff fair relating to IWD 2024, it is a question of showing a little of what we do on a daily basis in relation to the fairer sex which relies on the theme which is  “Investing in women, accelerating the pace”. At Ceneema, a lot is done in favor of women, our training center welcomes more women for each training course and the best ones are retained. Many operate heavy machinery and have knowledge of small-scale mechanics in order to react during their work in the field. Also in terms of responsibilities, several women occupy positions of responsibility, from tractor drivers or office managers to directors, including general director Andrée Caroline MebandeEkotto Minkouna who integrates the gender approach and continues to allow Ceneema women to benefit from training or capacity building workshops in different areas of IT, accounting, etc. ». Mme Marie Thérèse Obama épse Abena Ondoa, Minproff « We have seen the ingenuity of women, the diversity of female entrepreneurship. We saw products from several sectors of activity (agricultural, fish farming, ornamental), the catering area. Everyone is invited to this fair because it shows the genius of Cameroonian and African women because some stands are run by women of other nationalities. ». Clément Noumsi

  • Activities related to IWD at Mindcaf

From the amphitheater to the football field, women are present. A round table on the theme: “Acceleration of the acquisition of land ownership by women: guarantee of autonomy and assurance of gender equality” was organized on Monday March 4 in the land credit amphitheater room of Cameroon in the presence of technical advisor n°1 representing the minister. This theme which arises from the central theme which is: “Investing in women, accelerating the pace” Several administrations were present at this round table with in the forefront the Minproff who kept the audience on the central theme, that of the UN women who spoke about support measures for women within the framework of the gender component, Ms. inspector n°1 president of the scientific commission of IWD activities at Mindcaf, Ms. representative of GIZ technical advisor in charge for the promotion of responsible land policy, the representative of the NGO well Grounded Cameroon who focused on women's leadership and also the representative of the environmental NGO for Life who focused on governance issues under the moderation by Ms. Clarisse Constante Kamgang, president of the gender focal team at Mindcaf. It was a question of going around these different sub-themes to better enlighten the lantern of several participants on the progress and the path to follow to translate into facts the desire of the public authorities to reduce to its simplest expression this discrimination against women. To combine business with pleasure, a sporting meeting took place this Monday afternoon and will have allowed the fairer sex of Mindcaf to show unsuspected talents in a women's football meeting at the GP stadium in Melen in the presence of the general secretary, personal representative of Mindcaf. The joy was total, the ladies of Maetur took over the amazons of Mindcaf by a large score of 5 goals to 1. But as the SG pointed out, it was the family who won because the Maetur being an organization under the supervision of Mindcaf. The ceremony ended with individual distinctions and the presentation of trophies to the two teams. We must salute the bravery of these ladies who, despite the presence of Lady Rain, a surprise guest,  the ladies of Mindcaf and Maetur played fair by going to the end of the meeting in front of a large audience who came to encourage them. Reactions Mme Colette Nicaise Noah Ndo, responsible for sports activities at Mindcaf relating to IWD 2024 « Thank you for speaking, I would like to thank the hierarchy who allowed all these activities to take place. It is thanks to his agreement and his multifaceted support that the sports walk and this football meeting between the amazons of Mindcaf and the women of Maetur was able to take place. I am completely satisfied because the mobilization was great last Saturday during the sports walk organized by Minproff and you saw despite the rain, they played, for a while almost forgetting the offices and files for a football match ». Mme Clarisse Constante Kamgang, head of the planning and cooperation studies division and chair of the Mindcaf gender focal team « Thank you for all the interest you give to Mindcaf as part of the activities marking the 39th edition of International Women's Day in Cameroon. Today in our ministerial department and under the leadership of Minister Henri Eyebe Ayissi, many measures have been taken to promote access to land ownership for women and young girls. In terms of first measures, we have capacity building at our legal clinics, the gender focal team set up by the minister is deployed at the level of the ministry itself but also in the hinterland (in rural areas) to raise awareness, popularize land and property procedures. But also raise awareness among women of the need to acquire land ownership to secure their investments. This is how we went from 3 miles land title requests by women in 2019 to more than 14 miles in 2022 so this reflects the progressive appropriation of the message through our awareness raising and popularization of women on the need to obtain this precious sesame. This round table is in line with our objectives of informing as many women from diverse backgrounds as possible on such an occasion, whether during rural women's day or IWD, the objective remains the same, whether the greater number of women take ownership of land access arrangements ». Bakia Mary Moulobe, head of the Eco Feminist Leadership program of the NGO Well Grounded Cameroon branch « We talked about Women's Leadership. We have followed everything that is done to inform women about their rights to have access to land ownership but if this is put in place and women do not have a platform for capacity building in order to put their skills into practice, highlights their know-how, I think all this will be a result of some kind. We presented the journey that we, as a civil society (NGO), are taking to support women in understanding who they are, their strengths and weaknesses, and in understanding what skills they must possess as Leaders. It's a way of being, it's a lifestyle, it's being a model for other women who want to do like you, knowing how to communicate, when to say it, how to say it as a woman leader , have empathy and I am convinced that this is the fight, woman knows yourself, who are you as a woman? This is why they must form a group because alone, this is not possible. ». Clément Noumsi

  • 4th national art competition “They speak”: final scheduled for March 16 at the national museum

12 young women were chosen from among the 35 participants, during the semi-final which took place on Saturday March 2, 2024, at the auditorium of the Ministry of Communication. Voice to break the chains of silence. The semi-final was played at the auditorium of the Ministry of Communication in Yaoundé. Just like in Douala, the participants looked great despite the stress of the day. They were divided into the minimal, junior and senior categories. Several subjects were submitted to their reflection, including: the role of the young boy in the evolution of women, how to combine social networks, entrepreneurship and moral values. To achieve this, each of them had a maximum of four minutes to convince the jury. Several selection criteria, namely: language level, structure and hierarchy of speech, improvisation, flow of speech, eloquence, good dress. Bernadette NJI is the oldest member of this fourth edition. It was thanks to her daughter that she registered for this competition. She was selected in the senior category, for the final on March 16, despite not knowing much about it. She expresses herself with satisfaction: “The first day, I was sitting down but I didn’t know what it was about. I followed how the other women spoke. From then on, it interested me. The second day, I had not prepared my speech. But, encouraged by a young girl, I went up to the lectern and improvised a speech which pleased the jury.” Public speaking: a non-profit activity. The national public speaking competition called “They Talk” was born from the desire of five women passionate about public speaking. At the beginning, it was reserved only for young women from precarious backgrounds. Charlotte DOOH, Vice-President of the BITÕ association, says: “When we set up this competition, we thought of young girls from poor backgrounds. Every evening we went to look for these young girls in areas where insecurity reigns, such as the brickworks district in Yaoundé. Several times, we faced fierce adversity from their parents for whom they were more useful in the itinerant trade of returning from school. It’s thanks to the mayor of this locality who supported us when he learned of this activity.” This competition, for the Vice-President of this association, is part of an educational and ethical aim: “The initiative of the BITÕ association for the competition”. They speak aims to enable young Cameroonian women to improve their public speaking and leadership. Thanks to this competition, today we see the transformed faces of these young women. It’s a plus for them and for us who support them.” This competition is not the only activity for women in the BITÕ association. Charlotte DOOH speaks: “Every two months, we organize a round table on a subject that concerns women, with the voluntary assistance of professionals from several sectors. Last year, we organized a round table at the arts counter cultural space located in the Dragages district, on sexual assault. We invited lawyers, a psychoclinician and two senior figures from the police. It was very uplifting for ourselves.” Serge Ngouadio
