  • Dedication of the Winners Chapel Int Fouda Yaoundé District: a work to the glory of the Lord.

Songs and praises to the Lord furnished this memorable day of Saturday April 20, 2024 for the faithful who are not ready to forget. The bulk of the texts focused on the wonders of the dedication of the temple to God for the advancement of his kingdom on earth according to the holy scriptures. Some selected verses from today's liturgy Matthew 6:33 Revelation 3:20  “Listen, I stand at the door and knock; If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and have a meal with him and he with me.” The dedication then aims to belong to God but also to glorify him. It was under the leadership of Pastor Yakubu Kezi, Vice President of the Foreign Mission, who valiantly represented the founder of the Victors Chapel churches, Bishop David Oyedepo, for this solemn ceremony, the resident pastor of the Victors Chapel. from Yaoundé Fouda the Reverend Enrique NFUCA, the Reverend Christian IFEANYI from the Winners Chapel of Biyem Assi, administrative and traditional authorities and many other members of the body of Christ coming from different backgrounds. The Man of God, Reverend Yakubu Kezi will conclude by saying: “The real message addressed to everyone is that the glory of the eternal is the beauty of the Christian's life. Strive to follow the eternal, his presence will manifest itself in your life. David said: seek the eternal and his strength, seek his face continually, that is the work of the Christian. After the dedication of this temple to the Lord, let us seek him. Let us continue to thirst for the Lord. Oh God, I seek you earnestly, my soul thirsts for you, my flesh desires you, send your power and your glory, for I have seen your temple. As a Christian even outside of the church everywhere in our lives.” Marcelle Ebanda (Stagiaire)

  • Cameroon-Nigeria bilateral cooperation: safeguarding biodiversity

The two countries which share a long border rich in natural resources signed a framework agreement on Friday April 19, 2024 in Abuja, Nigeria, for harmonized management of forest and wildlife ecosystems. Cameroon was represented by the Minister of Forests and Wildlife Jules Doret NDONGO. The two countries have always collaborated like neighbors who have everything to share. As in other sectors, this collaboration will therefore demonstrate a sustainable and mutually beneficial partnership, to promote partnership in common areas with regard to the importance of forests and wildlife for the respective economies of both sides. other. Conscious of the need to guarantee and improve forestry and wildlife products for the benefit of their respective populations and to encourage equitable distribution of income generated by these resources. The present agreements which have been, therefore define a general framework of cooperation for the conservation of cross-border ecosystems and the sustainable management of forest and wildlife resources between the parties in particular through the design and implementation of programs of common interest to the like protected areas and cross-border parks. Given the importance of the forest/wildlife sector for the economy of Cameroon, Minister Jules Doret NDONGO thus demonstrates the commitment of the public authorities to do everything possible for the success of this framework agreement which will finally make it possible to mobilize sources of financing for the preservation of biodiversity which is experiencing serious degradation along the border of the two countries. This signing follows a commitment made by the two countries during the last COP on biodiversity aimed at preserving 30% of natural resources by 2030. This agreement which has just been signed is proof that Cameroon and Nigeria respect their commitments for safeguarding in view of the plundering of resources recorded along the border between the two countries, as the poaching of great apes and large mammals in defiance of CITES laws on species to be protected has become a fact there. Illegal exploitation of forest species and non-timber forest products and genetic resources has been difficult to combat for years. Indeed, without a defined framework agreement for concerted action, it is difficult to initiate talks to combat biodiversity along the border. This agreement is a legal framework for technical and financial partners to work on the conservation and sustainable management of cross-border natural resources of the two sub-regions. • “Cameroon and CEMAC festival tour”: The concept presented to the public in Yaoundé

The related press conference on April 19, 2024 also served as a pretext for SM Taybe Ngaba, the promoter of this project, to take stock of the preparations for the second edition of the international Moundang festival (Fii Moundang) which will be held in Chad in 2025. The observation is clear: culture plays an essential role in the process of bringing people together all over the world. In the CEMAC zone, for several years now, an effort has been made in this direction by the organizers of festivals and other socio-cultural and socio-economic events with a sub-regional scope. Among others: the annual CEMAC cross-border fair (FROTAC); the Massa Community Festival(Tokna Massana); the cultural festival of the Toupouri people and the Nguon (festival of the Bamoun people). An almost generalized socio-cultural emulation in Cameroon and in the sub-region for some time which reflects “the reconnection of pre-existing community territorialities of the past”. However, it turns out that “the organizational articulation of these cultural events illustrates a certain disharmony which results, for example, in overlapping or proximity of the dates of their holdings”. At least that’s what SM Taybe Ngaba thinks. He has just expressed this during a meeting with men and women from the media. A meeting which therefore allowed him to present his project, which, according to him, will sufficiently highlight the diverse and multiple opportunities of each and all of these events. For this, through the concept called “Tour of Cameroon and CEMAC festivals”, SM Taybe Ngaba intends to begin by bringing together around the same table, the different organizers of these festivals, experts, scientists, governmental, local authorities and other parties to discuss: On the prospects for better planning of these events, on their capitalization, and on the multiple opportunities they generate. But “especially on the coherent articulation of a real dynamic of national and sub-regional integration based on these socio-cultural and socio-economic expressions”, ultimately indicated, SM Taybe Ngaba. • Kumbo-Ndu road: earthworks are progressing.

Work on the 39 km section of the Kumbo-Ndu road is progressing gradually, with a rate of 7.90% in April 2024. On the ground, services relating to earthworks and measures prior to the start-up of the power plant crushing is in progress. On this Kumbo-Ndu section under construction in the North-West region, the physical progress of earthworks as of April 13, 2024 is 7.90%. • Bridges in ACROW metal structures: the Mintp decries the slowness in the execution of the work.

The construction project for the metal structure works was the subject of an evaluation during the project review held on Thursday April 18, 2024, this consultation allowed the Minister of Public Works to make an update with the project teams at the point of work on the ACROW metal bridges in Cameroon. The construction work of these bridges with a total length of 668,427 ml and their access roads which are 100 ml on either side of each work of art throughout the national territory are experiencing a slowdown. Of the 09 projects in progress, only the bridges under construction respectively on the Mama river in the East on the Dem-Mama axis where the execution rate is 45% and on the Ngoum river in Kekem where we preparing to install the already assembled metal deck are experiencing significant progress in the progress of its work to date despite certain constraints. These projects are financed to the tune of 8,530,406,462 FCFA including tax by the BIP MINTP. According to experts, this slowdown is due to the non-payment of certain accounts and the slowness in the execution of the work. To this end, the Minister of Public Works ordered the payment of these accounts for these companies to improve performance and accelerate the pace of work. Otherwise, the project owner could notice the failure and possibly move towards termination. Clément Noumsi

  • 2nd edition of Islamic finance community days in the Cemac zone

Yaoundé is hosting the event from April 22 to 26 at the Palais des Congrès. An initiative from the African Islamic Finance Consulting (AIFC) firm of our compatriot Hassan Belibi Noah, the first financial engineering firm specializing in Islamic finance which intends to make, through this second edition, an overall important contribution to the inclusive and sustainable development of local authorities. decentralized (CTD) in Cameroon. With loving theme “Islamic Finance and inclusive and sustainable development of regions in Cameroon”, this second edition will have a complementary training offer on April 25 and 26 after 3 days of information on April 22, 23 and 24. This desire of the AIFC cabinet aims to improve the economic environment of the countries of the sub-region, victims of exogenous and even endogenous constraints despite a declared political will. The prosperity and development of the territories continue to face certain problems despite the legal framework put in place by the governments of the Cemac countries which celebrated the 30th anniversary of this economic and financial institution under the very evocative theme: the Cemac of peoples. Unlike West Africa, Central Africa is struggling to take off despite integrative projects. Several reasons are mentioned, the practices of microfinance and banks, interest rates and the transfer of risks most often inappropriate and unfair. AIFC (African Islamic Finance Consulting) aims to be this partner of choice alongside CTDs by providing them with a different vision of financing short, medium and long-term projects through Islamic finance. According to the organizers, it is on the basis of an appropriate study of the socio-economic environment and with solid experience in innovative financing mechanisms that solutions will be proposed to decentralized local authorities to facilitate the financial decentralization which should lead to the improvement of the living environment and, in turn, the well-being of populations. The CTDs thus find in the AIFC an ideal partner for supporting local development actors alongside the CTDs themselves. Clément Noumsi

  • “Professional directory of mayors of Cameroon (2020-2025)”: A valuable tool at the service of municipalities

The publishing project for the book which will appear in a few days under the care of the publishing company EPUCAM SARL was presented to the media on April 17 in Yaoundé during a press lunch.. Raise awareness of mayors and the economic and cultural potential of cities and towns in Cameroon to better invest. This is the main objective of the document which will appear soon and whose publishing project was the subject of exchanges between Aimé Michel Kamande, its promoter and the men and women of the media. entitled: “Professional directory of mayors of Cameroon (2020-2025), this is an unprecedented project, the first of its kind in our latitudes. According to its promoter, it intends to be the beginning of a response to the ambitious and explained objectives of each mayor and his municipal council for the well-being of the population. By going through it, we will be able to have a succinct view of the mayor's vision for his municipality, his main achievements as well as his projects, to name only these cases. Anything that will have the advantage of better informing potential partners and investors interested in the economic and cultural opportunities of each constituency. Even more, this directory will provide, for example, to those in need, not only the identity or even the updated contacts of each of the 360 mayors in Cameroon. But also the exact location of said town halls as well as other administrative services of the municipality. “We are going to include in this directory all the municipalities of Cameroon. It will allow you to know the mayors, their visions, their projects... For example, it will allow you to know where the sub-prefecture is located, the land registry services, the hospital. For those who are outside the country and potential foreign investors and partners, they will find in this guide which will be available in diplomatic representations, all the information concerning the municipalities that they will need,” reiterated Aimé Michel Kamande. Furthermore, this document which will give a completely different visibility to Cameroonian municipalities for the ultimate well-being of the populations will be available in economic chambers, business organizations, hotels, service stations, public administrations, private companies, town halls, etc. The average citizen will also be able to obtain it by simply purchasing it. Revolutionary, this is in fact an idea, a concept that all Cameroonians should embrace. Aimé Michel Kamande, its promoter, took the opportunity during his meeting with the press to launch this vibrant appeal. Julien Efila

  • Urban disorder: Municipal police and motorcycle taxis reframed

It was during a crisis meeting following the death of two people on April 17 in the Yaoundé 1st district. «There are too many complaints against the municipal police. We need to reframe things as quickly as possible.” These words are from the Minister of Territorial Administration, Paul Atanga Nji during the crisis meeting held in the conference room of his ministry on April 18, 2024. This was following the unfortunate incident which resulted in the death of a motorcycle taxi driver and his passenger who were trying to escape the clutches of municipal police officers from Yaoundé 1st town hall. Reframe the municipal police whose officers are increasingly taking on wings and behaving like executioners of motorcycle taxi drivers and other traders and street vendors when their role is to help the public authorities fight against urban disorder . This was therefore at first glance the objectives of the meeting held in the presence of the governor of the Center region, the prefect of the Mfoundi department, the mayor of the city and the municipal magistrates of the seven districts that include the headquarters of the institutions.. This reframing exercise consisted initially of the Minat reminding the mayors that municipal police activity must not evade the prior approval of the prefect of the department in accordance with the decree of the Head of State which frames. “It (the municipal police) must be coordinated and supervised by the prefect of the department. In other words, no mayor can make any provision concerning the municipal police without the agreement of the administrative authority,” he said. Before insisting that this presidential decree will be rigorously respected so that the abuses of crooked agents of the municipal police cease. Furthermore, this meeting, which recorded the presence of officials from the motorcycle taxi drivers' unions, was also an opportunity to reframe this activity taken hostage by highway bandits and other criminals. At this level, a set of measures have been taken to restore order in the sector. Among other things, the uncompromising pursuit of the identification of all motorcycle taxi drivers or even the obligation by the latter to respect areas prohibited from traffic by the prefect. “If the unions are unable to bring order to this sector, we will take draconian measures which could be a temporary or even permanent suspension of motorcycle taxi activity in certain departments or districts of the country,” threatened Minat . However, the question arises as to whether this state of affairs would not be the result of the public authorities' own turpitudes.? Julien Efila

  • INC4 MEETING IN OTTAWA: IPEN AND TERRE ET DEVELOPMENT MOBILIZE AGAINST PLASTICS RECYCLING

The fourth meeting of experts from the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee responsible for developing a legally binding international instrument on plastic pollution, particularly in the marine environment (INC4), will be held in Ottawa from April 23 to 29. On this occasion, Cameroonian civil society is mobilizing. Terre et Développement, an environmental protection NGO, briefed journalists from the national press on the issues at stake at this summit, particularly on the issue of plastic recycling. The global network called the “International Pollutants Elimination Network” (IPEN) and the NGO Terre et Développement have continued to take a stand against what already appears to be an aberration in the preparatory documents for the high-level meeting of experts of INC4. In said documents, experts propose the recycling of plastic in the circular economy. Such a proposal is touted as constituting one of the measures likely to increase the elimination of plastic. However, this is not the case, if we judge by the facts proven by scientific data.. In fact, a study carried out in 2020 and which brought together 28 samples of recycled high density polyethylene (HDPE), from granules obtained in various regions of the world, including Cameroon, demonstrated that the transformation of plastics into granules constitutes a source of concerns. During such a transformation, the process is not healthy, as the plastic industry suggests. This study highlighted the fact that chemicals added to plastic to give it its flexibility or shine increase its toxicity. The same goes for dyes and various other adjuvants. It follows that during the process of transforming plastics into granules, chemical elements are recomposed into various substances. Anything that increases the toxicity of the plastic obtained at the end of the chain. However, these products obtained are objects of everyday use such as dishes and other jars for food use, tables, chairs, vehicle or telephone accessories, etc. According to the results of studies conducted in 2020, 16,000 (sixteen thousand) chemicals were identified in plastic pellets. A quarter of these products have been recognized as toxic. Most of the other products identified lacked complete data on the chemical compounds and their concentration. Under these conditions, scientific surveys are not conducive to pronouncing on their degree of toxicity.. While some national and regional regulations exist regarding permitted concentrations of hazardous chemicals in plastics, less than 1% of plastic chemicals are subject to international regulation. Hence the importance of this Ottawa summit, which aims to achieve a 1st COP (Conference of Parties) and to legislate on international conventions governing the trade in plastic in all its forms around the world.. To date, there are no international standards requiring transparent reporting of chemicals throughout the plastics value chain or requiring comprehensive monitoring of chemicals present in materials recycled into plastic pellets. Such a situation constitutes a real time bomb in terms of the toxicity of plastic in relation to the health of individuals and the environment. Clément Noumsi

  • Internal control, performance and mastery of tools: officials from the Ministry of Finance equipped

This is the objective of the capacity building seminar for Minfi officials on internal control organized for them on April 17 and 18, 2024 in Yaoundé. During his opening speech, the Inspector General of the Ministry of Finance, Antoine Félix Samba reminded participants of the importance of such an approach which aims to make a mid-term evaluation and propose corrective measures to reduce the Gaps observed in order to improve the performance sought in state programs. All this will only be possible if the human resource is well trained even if there are other important issues and not the least such as, cybercrime, control of risks linked to the information system, the need to adapt reforms, improving communication and collaboration between the different stakeholders. It is a question of promoting a culture of internal control as a tool at the Ministry of Finance, of identifying challenges and risks, of exchanging experiences and of good practices for the proper management of projects. Reactions Antoine Félix Samba, IG of Minfi «Performance within the framework of administration today is very important for the first resource which is the staff, this means that this seminar is there to make the staff more efficient by strengthening their capacities within the framework of internal control. Control is the reconciliation between what is done and what should be done. We develop discrepancies and try to understand the why of these discrepancies; it is an activity that allows us to revitalize the team. It is important that people adapt to the reforms that are being undertaken in our institutions so that state projects can achieve their objectives. This is why strengthening the capacities of public officials is one of the challenges. The Minfi being that of resources, it is important to understand that if this resource is not used wisely we inevitably cannot wait for the results, we must also reduce the corruption which seems to plague our administration ». Olivier Etoundi Nga, CEA2/DGB/DPC/CCTD « The training that we benefit from today is worthy of interest in the sense that public finances in modern management, we must question, question through internal control which makes it possible to evaluate the performance and the functioning of a public entity . This gives the opportunity not only to identify on the one hand the positive values generated but also it allows us to identify the gap that exists between good performance and the limits that can be recorded in the operation of an entity. You know, we are in the era of performance and it is fashionable for us to take a break to readjust when we realize that there is a shortcoming. So to us, listeners who are therefore led to question performance, this management, today's training gives us rudiments, precepts, arguments and also the possibility of mastering the techniques and tools that can allow us to achieve the objectives set ultimately ». • FUTSAL: CAF suspension disqualifies Cameroon from Can 2024

The seventh edition of the 2024 African Futsal Cup of Nations has been bringing together several African countries in Morocco for several days since April 11 until the 21st. Cameroon was disqualified and replaced by Mauritania. The Confederation of African Football announced the suspension of the Cameroon national team from the seventh edition of the African Futsal Cup of Nations which has been taking place in Morocco for several days, pitting the best African teams against each other. Indeed, Cameroon has been accused of violating rules and regulations since 2019. Faced with this situation, Cameroon did not appeal within the deadline to give its version of the facts to CAF. The team is therefore suspended and will not take part in the African futsal meeting. However, the Cameroon national team, twice African champion, was racing for a third continental title as it did in 2016 and 2018 in South Africa. The Lionesses of Cameroon were replaced by Mauritania. It is clear that, if Cameroon had appealed this suspension in time, it could obtain a cancellation or relief. Futsal in Cameroon: Myth or reality? Futsal exists in Cameroon and is managed by the Cameroonian Football Federation. The members of the national commission for this sport led by President Norbert Fouedjou, member of the executive committee of Fecafoot, regularly hold working sessions with a view to the development of this discipline on the ground. According to the federation, futsal is played in the departments and regions of Cameroon with the added bonus of a final for men. The last one took place in May 2023 at the gymnasium of the Yaoundé sports stadium. Women have their championship which is played in the regions and departments. Before each start of the season, the clubs are made aware by the members of the commission about the terms of affiliation, as well as the conduct to follow during the competition. As a reminder, futsal is played in Cameroon in the departments and regions under the management of Fecafoot. Cameroon, double African champion, is disqualified for the seventh edition of Can 2024 which is being contested in Morocco, so the finalists and the third will be directly qualified for the World Cup scheduled for next September in Uzbekistan. • 2024 Spring Meetings of the IMF and the World Bank: The CEMAC Commission takes part in the meetings

It is a question for the community institution to take advantage of these meetings to hold important bilateral meetings and many others. The Commission of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) has been participating since April 15 and until the 21st in Washington, United States, in the 2024 spring meetings of the IMF and the World Bank. On the sidelines of this meeting, the community institution headed by Baltasar Engonga Edjo'o held important bilateral meetings. Among others: the meeting with the public finance department of the IMF, or even with the Africa department of this international financial institution. With the public finance department of the IMF, the meeting was the pretext for the commission, not only to express its satisfaction with the multifaceted support that this department continues to provide it in the reform of public finances, in the revision of Community directives on taxation. But also with regard to the strengthening of tax administration in the sub-region. As for the meeting with the Africa department of the IMF in which COBAC and BEAC also took part, the work consisted of CEMAC regional institutions sharing with the IMF recent developments in terms of strengthening regulatory tools. in their possession in a context of a need to strengthen community momentum in the implementation of the regional strategy for the recovery of the CEMAC economies. In addition, the commission held other meetings such as the high-level meeting on April 16 on CEMAC. It aimed to discuss ways and means to strengthen the community momentum of the regional strategy for restoring the budgetary and external viability of CEMAC. Or ultimately the caucus meeting with the Managing Director of the IMF. Placed under the theme: "Strengthening Africa's resilience in a world in perpetual shocks", the meeting essentially consisted of African finance ministers presenting to the Director General the main concerns of the continent relating to IMF financing implemented at his disposal. And climate financing in the face of multiple shocks as well as ways and means of strengthening its resilience. Julien Efila

  • Ntui-Ndjolé road: the company completes earthworks and construction of 81 structures

The construction of the Ntui-Ndjolé road can now be addressed in terms of remaining tasks, in view of the progress of work on the ground. Indeed, as of April 15, 2024, we note that the foundation layer completed covers 59,875 km and the base layer executed extends over 50,600 km and the wearing course already implemented covers a length of 31,500 km. As of April 15, 2024, the progress of construction work on this 60 km section linking Ntui and Ndjolé shows that the cutting, backfilling and purging are 100% completed with a platform completed at 99.79. A performance which now allows the company to concentrate on road work and, more importantly, surfacing. The implementation of the wearing course started a few weeks ago, with 31,500 km covered to date, or a little more than half of the length. The structures constructed, notably the scuppers and culverts, number 81 and the construction work on the bridge over the Méloko River continues with a progress rate of 56.86%. The foundations of the structure, the supports, the beams and the riprap have been completed and the access embankments will be completed in the coming days. It should also be noted that the ditches lined with the aim of ensuring longitudinal drainage cover 37,765 ml. The general progress of work on the Ntui-Ndjolé section stands at 72.97% with an expected completion in the coming weeks. There will therefore remain work to develop municipal roads, the total length of which is 73 km. However, it is emphasized that the municipal road development work, entrusted to subcontractors, is not being carried out at a satisfactory pace. Clément Noumsi

  • Misappropriation of funds from Fécafoot: Nyassa Soleil excluded from any activity related to Football

The mission assigned to itself by the new executive of the Cameroonian Football Federation led by Samuel Eto'o, that of giving Cameroonian football all its greatness, is gradually bearing fruit. Because nothing will ever be the same again. Nyassa soleil President of the Mbam departmental League and Kim, member of the executive committee of Fecafoot, has just been exposed by the disciplinary committee and excluded for a period of 05 years from any activity linked to Football. The President of the Departmental League of Mbam and Kim are accused of proven acts of corruption. He declared 08 affiliated clubs including 04 fictitious and received subsidies from the 08 clubs. Faced with this behavior, the executive committee ruled and sanctioned the person concerned commensurate with the action taken. He is excluded from any activity related to Football for a period of 5 years and will have to pay a fine of 500,000 FCFA. Indeed, it was revealed that 04 of the clubs mentioned including Mbam and Kim FC, Olympique FC, Option sport et Étude and Vipère SA do not exist. This sanction comes at the right time, at a time when Cameroonian football is going through a tense situation with quarrels linked to arbitration and dual identity. It also aims to eliminate all forms of corruption in the football world in Cameroon. Certainly it is a difficult mission, but not impossible. J. Patrick DJON

  • Transfer of resources: the Eastern region benefits from 1,029,642,905 FCFA from MINTP via the Road Fund line in 2024

  • UEFA Champions League: Paris Saint Germain defeats FC Barcelona and reaches the semi-finals

The Parisian club will be at the meeting in the semi-finals of the Champions League. Despite a complicated start on the evening of April 16, 2024 with a first goal conceded in the 12th minute, PSG was able to keep calm and take the upper hand (1-4) against FC Barcelona. Paris Saint Germain achieved the difficult challenge of defeating FC Barcelona on their own premises by a score 1 goal to 4 during the second leg of the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Unfavorable after the defeat conceded at the Parc des Princes (3 goals to 2), the players of coach Luis Enrique were able to reverse the trend during an electric match on the Barcelona pitch by scoring 04 goals in quick succession. Getting off to a bad start at the very start of the match, Luis Enrique's men took advantage of FC Barcelona's errors to establish their authority and sign a historic comeback which allowed them to snatch the qualifying ticket for the last four of the European Champions League . The Franco-Cameroonian Kylian Mbappè lost in the first leg and gave the impression of not having reached the fullness of all his possibilities during this match. However, he stood out with a double, putting the legendary Spanish club back against the wall. Ousmane Dembelé has not gone unnoticed. He made himself heard through a realization. PSG will face Burussia Dortmund in the semi-final For the rest, it is up to Mbappè's teammates to reach the final four by putting Borussia Dortmund out of the running to compete in the 2nd Champions League final in their history. The two clubs know each other better; they met in the group stage. For these quarter-finals, PSG will have to thank Araujo. Because the defeat of the capital club was taking shape before seeing Ronaldo Araujo lead an opportunity until the red card in the 29th minute. From this moment PSG benefited from a numerical superiority which ended up contributing in its favor. Dembelé spiced up the game Scorer in the first leg, Ousmane Dembelé brought a special touch to this meeting by exploiting a cross from Barcola which ended in the back of the net in the 40th minute of play. Barcelona from this moment seemed less dangerous despite a few incursions into the opposing camp . Paris emerged victorious but did not control the match despite Barcelona playing 10 against 11. The Catalans increased their unsuccessful offensives against the team from the capital. We must be grateful for the efforts of Donnarumma who made a double rescue. Beaten in the first leg (3 goals to 2), Paris Saint-Germain achieved a spectacular comeback by beating FC Barcelona on their own premises. The Parisian club joins the last four and will try to challenge Burussia Dortmund in the semi-finals of the Champions Leagues. J.Patrick DJON

  • premium quality cocoa: an anacreontic ode intended to celebrate effort and merit

A prize pool of 2 billion francs to be distributed to producers This is the leitmotif of the press briefing that the Minister of Commerce Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana granted to the national and international press on Tuesday, April 16 of the year of Lord 2024. It was on the occasion of the start of the same day of phase III of the national campaign for payment of the quality premium to cocoa producers for the periods 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 in a logic of perseverance and continuation of the effort by encouraging and rewarding the most deserving, not to punish or penalize others, but on the contrary to encourage them to do as well, if not better, with the ultimate objective of making all of Cameroon origin a label of excellence. This is a trifle sum of 2 billion of our francs which will thus be made available to these producers for the sale of their cocoa. As a reminder, it was already 790 million CFA francs for the 2017/2018 campaign in phase I and 2,011,292,698 CFA francs for the 2018/2019 and 2019/2010 campaigns counting for phase II. This announcement was made in the presence of Minader Gabriel Mbairobe, the SG of Mincom Felix Zogo, the president of the ONCC who is also president of the committee responsible for monitoring and payment of the cocoa quality premium to producers, the honorable Lawson Tabot, president of the network of parliamentarians for the development and development of the Cocoa-Coffee and Cotton and fishing sectors; the president of the Interprofessional Cocoa and Coffee Council; the administrator of the cocoa and coffee sector development fund; the executive secretary of the inter-professional cocoa and coffee council. In recent years, Cameroon has joined the Pantheon of the elite of cocoa culture in the world. According to Mincommerce “all this demonstrates the visionary pragmatism of the Head of State Paul BIYA who by instructing a series of measures aimed at responding to the challenges of price volatility on the world market with the establishment of the quality bonus for producers allowed our bean to regain its colors and rise to the roof of the world, both from a quality point of view and from a producer price point of view. Cameroon says it is ready to face the new European Union regulations on deforestation which will take effect on December 31, 2024 thanks to the agroforestry policy which allows us to preserve our ecosystem. Phase III runs from April 16 to August 30, 2024 with regard to the identification of beneficiaries and the publication of the lists of winners while the payment of bonuses will take place during the period from October 15 to December 15, 2024 in a concern for total transparency and absolute objectivity in consultation with producer organizers and all stakeholders in the value chain. For Minader, “it is important to know that the quality approach (in addition to post-harvest treatment) begins with varietal selection, already at the base at the research level and then in the technical itineraries in the agronomic management of production. We do flowering to be able to maintain the productivity of the orchards. We do flowering and fruit set to be able to maintain the productivity of the orchards. We have started the work of densifying the regeneration of the plants because the majority of plantations date back 30 to 40 years. We have densification work per hectare from 603 plants to 1200 to increase the productivity and income of farmers. We are happy to know that the next millionaires would be from rural areas. We have set up a producer window to supply around 6 billion francs along with the partners. We are one of the countries to have organized a conference on agro-ecology because we already practice it. I believe the best is yet to come. The yield is today less than 500kg per hectare, however with the new varieties we can go up to 2 tonnes per hectare. We have developed a savannah cocoa in Mbam and Kim and in Adamaoua, we try to continue our logic of agroforestry and preserve biodiversity ». Clément Noumsi
